Sexual behaviour problems don’t often exist alone.  For those who experience problems with their sexuality, also struggle with a variety of other personal issues.  We call this having ‘concurrent disorders’.

Understanding Concurrent Disorders

Many people with sexual behaviour issues also struggle with problems with substance use, depression and anxiety and with problems with gambling.

Others struggle with loneliness, low self esteem and a lack of self confidence.  Sometimes, sex or porn is used to cope with stress, problems with relationships or financial struggles.

While sex may help you cope with these problems in the short term, they don’t help you to deal with the real issues that are bothering you.  As these issues become more difficult to control, so might your sexual behaviours.

I have experience and training in providing treatment for a range of mental health and addiction issues and I have specialized training in dealing with ‘concurrent disorders’.

Many of these issues are interrelated.  I understand that there is often a direct relationship between your substance use and your sexual behaviours.

I also understand that this relationship can cause you to struggle with depression and anxiety.

But, things can get better.  I can help.
